Principal of MY Workforce Solutions

Strategic Partnerships

Job Training Programs

My purpose is to be a leader in Workforce Development and create pathways to jobs!

I help businesses connect to education to foster one of their greatest needs, a skilled workforce! Business and education are natural partners in the supply and demand of workers but do not communicate. This is when I can help them connect to customize training programs that create jobs and help businesses grow. That process also helps colleges stay current with industry demands and skills needed by high growth sector employers.

I became an advocate for workforce development when I was elected to the Rio Hondo College Board of Trustees in 2001. One of the roles of the community colleges system is to provide short term training programs to get people to work. Later in 2016, I was appointed to the Los Angeles County Workforce Development Board as a Commissioner and for years I communicated a unified voice of both education and business.

I am equally passionate about economic development and helping a region attract and retain businesses where there exists a strong workforce. I gained invaluable experience in my leadership role at the San Gabriel Valley Economic Partnership. I understand that if businesses don’t have an environment that supports their growth, they will leave us. It costs them time and money to train workers that ultimately leave because they realize that the job is not for them. As a commissioner, I learned how training could be made easier and affordable for businesses. WDB’s do their best to screen workers and have access to government funding that could help pay the cost of a training program customized by the college on behalf of an employer. Businesses and colleges also have funding to leverage for training.

My purpose is shaped by my own educational pathway. I earned a Master of Public Administration from USC and a Doctorate of Education with a focus in Civil Justice.

I’m an Educator in a Business world and I can help you bring the two together!

Company Bio

MY Workforce Solutions (MY) was created out of the 2020 pandemic! Businesses that could not communicate and transition did not survive or retain their workforce. State college budgets were slashed and students and displaced workers lost their pasthway to jobs.

Dr. Yanez was laid off from her college job and forced to be a quarantined mom to homeschool her daughter. Like millions of other people, she was forced to pivot and decided to use her talents to create MY Workforce Solutions. She saw a need to streamline the connection between business and education to help people get back to work. Her rich experience, network and credibility as a leader in the world of workforce development solidified her decision to start her own business.

Dr. Yanez is unique because she has held positions in both education and business. In education, she has served as both an elected and appointed board member and has worked as a workforce manager inside the college.

She has followed the movement to focus on career pathways and place students in jobs. She can work with educators where other business consultants cannot and manage the process to ensure that it continues to move forward. In most cases, colleges need a point person that understands how to navigate their system.

Dr. Yanez also understands that post-Covid, workforce development is comprehensive! She observed that many of the businesses that did not survive the shutdown or were forced to reduce workforce did so because they could not transition to on-line services or communicate with their customers. Recovery is going to require services in Marketing and Communications, particularly in multi-cultural communities. Services in workforce diversity & inclusion are in great demand.

Businesses were not prepared for Covid-19 and today Safety & Compliance has become more important than ever! Businesses were overwhelmed with the negative impacts of Covid-19 cases, including the inability to manage OSHA and Workers Compensation reporting, loss of workers, loss of revenue and the costs of PPE.  Dr. Yanez knows that businesses will need services to help them ensure a Covid-safe workplace to protect and retain their workforce.

In response, Dr. Yanez teamed with other experts to form MY Workforce Solutions, a Latina-owned and managed consulting firm that offers clients comprehensive solutions to Protect and Strengthen their workforce.

MY workforce solutions BRINGS THE RIGHT PARTNERS TOGETHER TO GET PEOPLE TO WORK!
